01Bookings & payment
Payment is taken in full by card at the time of booking, through Stripe. Your booking is confirmed the moment payment succeeds, and there is nothing to pay on the day. We do not store your card details; the payment page is Stripe's.
Gift vouchers are paid in full at purchase and are valid for three years from issue. A voucher is spendable on Foundation and Couples classes, any date and any seat count, but not on Corporate bookings. One voucher per booking, and vouchers do not combine with other discounts. If our prices have changed by the time a voucher is redeemed, the difference is payable at booking. Vouchers are transferable, but are not returnable and not redeemable for cash, except where the Australian Consumer Law requires otherwise.
Corporate bookings are arranged with us directly and invoiced. Email info@themoddingbench.com with your group size and rough dates.
Bookings made before 25 August 2026 were taken on our previous $100 deposit terms and are unaffected by this change: the balance on those bookings remains payable on the day, by bank transfer or PayID.
02Class minimums, changes & cancellations
- Each class needs at least four bookings to run. If a class is under that minimum seven days before its date, we will contact you to offer a full refund or a free transfer to the next available date.
- You may reschedule to another available class up to seven days before your class at no charge. Within seven days, we can transfer your booking at our discretion and a transfer fee may apply, or your seat may be given to someone else you nominate.
- If you cancel more than fourteen days before your class we will issue a gift voucher for the full amount. Between seven and fourteen days, a voucher for half. Inside seven days no voucher is issued, but your seat remains transferable to someone else. Where a booking was paid for using a voucher, any amount restored goes back to that voucher rather than being paid in cash.
- If we cancel a class for any reason, you receive a full refund of all amounts paid, or a transfer — your choice.
⚠ Safety, tools & assumption of risk
Watch assembly involves hand tools — including tweezers, screwdrivers, springbar tools, case knives, presses and other small implements — that can cause injury if misused. By attending a class you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are responsible for your own safety when handling any tool or equipment in the workshop. Tools must only be used as demonstrated by your instructor, and it is your responsibility to ensure you are using them safely at all times.
- You must follow all instructions, demonstrations and safety directions given by The Modding Bench staff. If you are ever unsure how to use a tool safely, stop and ask before proceeding.
- You must inform us before the class of any condition that may affect your ability to safely take part (including tremors, vision impairment, allergies to metals or lubricants, or the effects of medication), and you must not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Small parts can spring loose during assembly; eye-safety guidance given at the bench must be followed.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, you participate at your own risk, and The Modding Bench, its owners, instructors and staff are not liable for personal injury, loss or damage arising from your failure to use tools safely or to follow instructions.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the class or refunding the amount you paid.
03Parts, mistakes & rebuilds
Every class includes one rebuild attempt at no extra cost. If a part is genuinely damaged during normal, guided assembly, we replace it at our cost. Parts damaged through disregard of instructions may be charged at cost price. All parts remain our property until the class balance is paid in full.
04Your watch
Watches assembled in class are tested on a timegrapher and regulated before you leave. They are hobby-grade builds, not certified chronometers — we do not warrant water resistance unless expressly stated. A care guide is provided; damage arising from misuse after the class is not covered.
05Photography
We may photograph classes for our website and social media. Tell us on the day if you'd prefer not to be photographed — no questions asked.
06Gift vouchers
Vouchers are valid for any tier, never expire, and are transferable but not redeemable for cash.
07Privacy
We collect your contact details solely to administer your booking and, if you opt in, our newsletter. We never sell your data.
